Rugby Tournament

On the 28th of May the year 5/6 boys team went to Point England reserve to play a tackle rugby tournament.

First up we played Churchill Park and we lost 6-2, it was a tough game but Churchill Park came out on top.  Our second game was against St. Thomas and we thrashed them 15-0 and that game was our easiest game.  Then we went to play Glendowie, we beat them 8-1  we won it, we are in the final!

Next we had the drop kicking competition where the top kicker went through to the final, and Nick was the top drop kicker in our team.

Then we played the final. Liam scored our first try, it was a good try. We were winning 1-0 at half time than Liam scored again. The final whistle went then Matt scored. We won the final 3-0 and we all celebrated.

Last, it was prize giving and he asked our captain to come up and get a rugby ball our captain was Liam.

Pentecost Celebration 2010

On Friday the 28th of May 2010 Saint Ignatius School gathered together for a prayer and to celebrate  Pentecost. After it finished  parents started coming into our rooms to look and bid  on our Tapa cloths which we made. The dances we practiced over the last two weeks we performed in front of the parents. We had to perform it three times for the parents, because after ten minutes new parents would come in. After lunch we lined up to share our dances with the whole school there were some amazing dances! Next up the teachers were sending classes out to go look at others Tapa cloths there were some amazing and brilliant Tapa cloths. School was great and fun,it was nice to see other’s dances and Tapa cloths.  We think we raised a lot of money for 7 Days of Caring!!

Catholic Schools Day – St. Patrick’s Cathedral Visit

St. Patrick’s Cathedral
By: Georgia

On Wednesday we went to St. Patrick’s Cathedral.  We hopped on the bus, the bus was red and not very common.  I sat at the back.  The seats were as soft as pillows.  When we got off, we saw a man jumping off the Sky Tower.  He was a tiger!  It looked very cool.

Then we saw the Cathedral, it was the shape of a cross.  We waited for a bit and I got as bored as a sloth.  When we finally got inside I gasped in amazement.  At the front there was a huge rose window, and there were Jesus and Mary on stained glass windows.  There was an ancient passageway, it was as black and white as a zebra.  The seats were varnished and shiny.

After mass we had a tour around the cathedral.  There was a chest, a baptism pool and lots of other treasures.  We had lunch on the grass.  I saw my friend Claudia.  It was such a long day, we got on the bus and almost fell asleep.  We had heaps of fun!

Tapa Cloths on Auction

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This term we have been working hard designing and creating our own tapa cloths to put on auction.  We learnt last term through Caritas that some people in Tonga work together to create AMAZING tapa cloths that they sell to make money for their families and communities.  That gave us the idea to do the same – except the money we raise will be going to the Seven Days of Caring (see http://www.caringfoundation.org.nz/ for more information) which helps people who are in need in our local community.

Abbie had the great idea to give everyone a preview of the artwork through our blog – so here they are to enjoy!  To bid on these tapa cloths we invite you to come to our classroom on Friday, May 28 OR you can send an early bid by email to Mrs. McGregor.

Beginning Our Blog

A letter went home on Friday to let you know how we plan on using our blog.  Please read through the guidelines and send back the permission slip so that we can begin our ‘blog journey’!

Why Blog?

Room Ten is beginning a classroom blog this term.  To start off with we are learning what a blog is, and how we could use it to help with our learning.  How do you think we can use our classroom blog?
